The foods at this place definitely made a 360° change snd glad it’s for the good.Yu Yuan, which has been listed as 1-Star in the Michelin Guide Seoul for five consecutive years, offers high-quality dim sum menus. You’ll see sign of wear and tear and some maintenance and touch up of the place in the near future. Service was good and rarely many Chinese restaurants provide good service and changed our plates after a couple dishes.ĭefinitely will try this place again. Foods were served promptly despite having a banquet on the upper floor. ![]() Everything was delicious and guests were very happy and impressed. It blew my low expectations out of the water (literally) after my prior attempt.Ĭame back a day later with a few friends for dinner and pre ordered some specials recommended by the new chef. The dim sum selection is decent but it was good and presented very well. She happened to be someone I’m very familiar with her foods served at a Bellevue upscale Chinese restaurant.Ĭame here twice last week, once for lunch (dim sum) and back the next night for dinner (mainly focused on seafood). And one can’t fathom how this restaurant can survive.įast forward to 2021, started to see some great photos of foods served at this restaurant and started heating rumors about a new chef joined this restaurant. This restaurant has a great view of the water and south lake Union. Bring a date or a business associate to the beautiful dining space and cozy bar □ Highly recommended!įirst time to this restaurant back in 2014/15 and it wasn’t good but flat out bad and vowed never to return. Monsoon's food is warm and comforting on a cold day. The cake itself tastes like a nice banana bread, but it's the coconut milk that elevates it. The crab fried rice was not stunning but sturdy, and drunken chicken disappointed with intense sweetness and overly heavy breading.ĭessert: We were not planning on dessert but got one free for my birthday □ The waiter brought out banana cake with a sweetened coconut milk. The catfish is beautifully light and has a hint of peppery sweetness - goes great over rice. Mains: while the prawn curry was fantastic, the claypot catfish stole the show. The papaya salad was another excellent choice. Starter:Salt and pepper wings were savory, tangy, delicious and fresh. Neither can be found on Monsoon's menu, but you won't miss them. My previous experience with Vietnamese food was limited to pho and Bahn mi. and I'd come back, but I'd probably expect the same service.Īfter a previously chosen restaurant didn't work out on my birthday, my family stumbled into Monsoon on a cloudy day. If you come with a larger group, you'd be ok. Overall, the food is good, and it's a decent amount of space and tables inside. My wife was not happy because it was the same woman who we asked for the drink who never came back with it. On the way out, we never got a bill and had to finally walk up to the counter and tell the woman we were done and she didn't even know or see us and asked if we needed to be seated, not realizing we had just eaten. You can tell they are busy, but when I was able to hail down a waitress and ask for a drink for my wife it never came, so I had to hail down another waitress and finally I was able to get one. The only thing I'd say is again, it's about service. The fried rice needed a little salt, but you can add to taste ,and the pan-fried buns and shumai were good as well. The pan-fried shrimp dumplings were really good, not smaller like other places but a decent amount each piece. However, because of the higher fatty pieces, we had it bordered for me as almost being a little too fatty. Sometimes, at some places, it's kinda dry, but here it's fatty, so it's not dry by any means. Ordered the BBQ pork, shrimp pan-fried dumplings, pan-fried buns shumai, and fried rice. It was busy when we got there and we waited about 15 min for a table. Had some free time before our flight, so we said, "Why not check out Chinatown in Seattle?" and bumped into this place. ![]()
